Research interests: Electrophysiology; links between absence epilepsy and neuro-immune reactions; investigation of pathomechanisms of absence epilepsy (e.g., in WAG/Rij rats); distribution and functions of nucleosides in the brain; effects of exogenous ketone supplementation and maternal behavior on epileptic activity
Methods: implantation of electrodes in a stereotaxic apparatus, EEG and ERG recording of treated (i.p., i.c.v., gavage) freely moving animals; behavioral tests (EPM).

Research interests: Neurobiology of parenthood, brain pathology of stroke, neuronal function of nucleosides, pathomechanisms of epilepsy, neurochemistry of mitochondria, neuronal control of food intake.
Methods: Animal operations, stereotaxic operations, brain lesions, pathway transections, tracer injections, occlusion of the middle cerebral artery and other models of focal brain ischemia, behavioral tests of anxiety, depression and maternal motivation, neuronal tract-tracing using viruses and transgenic mice, laser capture microdissection and real-time RT-PCR, RNA amplification for microarray and sequencing, in situ hybridization histochemistry, immunolabeling and fluorescent microscopy, Western blotting.
